Claude Fable 5 Goes Permanent: Max and Team Premium Get It at Half Their Weekly Limits
The subscription limbo ends — from today Fable 5 is a standing part of Max and Team Premium plans, while Pro moves to usage credits with a $100 cushion.

The Announcement
Six weeks of deadlines end today. In an announcement posted late on July 17, Anthropic confirmed that beginning July 20, Claude Fable 5 is permanently included in all Max and Team Premium plans — plus premium seats on seat-based Enterprise plans — at up to 50% of weekly usage limits. "We know this has been frustrating, and we want to give you more certainty about what your plan includes," the company wrote, adding that "demand for Fable has been challenging to predict, which is why we rolled it out to subscription plans in stages."
How the 50% Actually Works
The mechanic matters: Fable 5 draws from the same shared weekly usage pool as every other model. Subscribers can spend up to half of that pool on Fable 5 at no extra cost — it's a cap within your existing limit, not extra capacity — and once the Fable share is used, you switch models or buy usage credits. One quiet change lands the same day: the temporary 50% boost to Claude Code weekly limits expired on July 19, so overall ceilings return to normal.
Who Pays As They Go
Not every plan gets the permanent inclusion. Pro, Team Standard and standard Enterprise seats access Fable 5 through prepaid usage credits at API rates — $10 per million input tokens, $50 per million output — softened by a one-time $100 credit for Pro and Team Standard subscribers. Claude Mythos 5, Fable's unrestricted sibling, remains limited to approved organisations and is not part of any consumer plan.
